Dog Bites

Under §3342(a) of California civil law, one must generally prove the following circumstances in an action for injuries sustained as a result of a dog bite:

• The defendant owned the dog
• The plaintiff was bit by the dog while they were lawfully on public or private property
• The plaintiff suffered injuries because of the dog bite
• The defendant’s dog was the cause of the injuries
